Before the Portrait Session
The best photography shoots are well planned. A pre shoot conversation over the phone will enable us to decide on locations, times and find out the type of images you are looking to achieve from the portrait session.
The best time of day for photographing babies and children is usually yhe morning, as this seems to be when they are the happiest & ready to play. For the first child portrait photo session we would also plan to photograph the child on its own rather than in the company of other children to avoid distractions. Toys and interaction with you will give enough to potential for great photos.If a park location is chosen, a week day is better than a weekend.
Make sure they are rested and happily fed. Have some snacks on you just in case. Casual dress is the best option for portraits with a natural look.
During the Portrait Session
Each child portrait photo session session takes up to two hours and can be in your home, in a garden or park.
The outdoor space is actually a great location for child portraiture photography, as the inquisitive nature of your child will create great expressions to be photographed.
We will be as unobtrusive as possible trying to capture your child’s spontaneity. All our photographers use top end digital cameras to create the best digital photography for children.
After the Portrait Session
After your child portrait photo session you will receive a Proofing Disc of all your images previewed in Colour, Black & White and Sepia. From the Proofing Disc you will be able to choose the pictures you would like to have displayed in your own online, accessible only by a unique password given.
You will also receive all the high-resolution pictures taken on the day of your photo session. These are perfectly suitable for printing at your photographic lab of choice.
You are invited to come into the office and look through our vast range of Photo Books in order to display your photos.
Where will my photo session take place?
At your place of choice. Outdoor spaces like parks and gardens are a great location for child portraiture where children are most relaxed and can express themselves freely.
What type of child photography do you do?
We have a very relaxed, contemporary style of child photography and a creative flair. We use the latest digital cameras and provide you with all the pictures previewed in Colour, B&W and Sepia. In order to achieve a natural look we make no use of backdrops and studio lighting.
What should I wear to my child portraiture photo session?
Simple clothing in single colour works out best. Avoid clothes with printed logos and complicated patterns. The child should feel comfortable, as it will show in the pictures.
When and how do I see my pictures after the session?
A CD containing all photos is supplied to you within 10 working days of your photographic session. Every picture is previewed in Colour, Black & White or Sepia to select for your prints and album. The files are ideally sized for computer viewing and perfect for sharing with friends and relatives over email. If you prefer, printed contact sheets can be provided.
Do I have to order photographs from you?
Not at all. We include all the high-resolution files of your child’s photographs, equivalent to film negatives. They have no watermarking on them and you are free to print them as you wish. The only copyright restriction we impose on them is that we do not allow you to sell or publish them without prior consent.
How does the payment work?
Once you have indicated you wish to proceed after your consultation, a Booking Completion is created and two contracts are we sent out, one of which you return with a cheque for the booking deposit of 30%.
How far will you travel? What extras are charged?
Travel is charged at 40p/mile as we travel nationwide and is difficult to build it into our pricing. For London shoot this is usually under £10 as in most cases it is often just a travel card fare. Al other calculations are based on a round trip from N1 7SL.
What is the procedure in case of cancellation?
We understand how parenthood is like and how unpredictable babies can be, therefore is perfectly fine to cancel a booking even on the day of your session. No cancellation fee will be applied when the original booking is rescheduled within two weeks.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes, we do. For all our Photographic services, which means they can be redeemed against the session fee or the cost of prints.
